How to convert hourly pay to salary
Multiply your hourly wage by the hours you work each week, then by the weeks you work each year. A full-time schedule of 40 hours for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours, so $25 an hour equals $52,000 a year. A quick rule of thumb: every $1 an hour is about $2,000 a year.
To go the other way, divide a yearly salary by 2,080 to get the hourly rate. The calculator does both directions and also shows daily, weekly, every-two-weeks, twice-a-month and monthly pay. Change the hours or weeks if you work part time or take unpaid time off.
Biweekly vs. semimonthly pay
- Every two weeks (biweekly) – 26 paychecks a year. Two months each year have three paydays.
- Twice a month (semimonthly) – 24 paychecks, usually on the 15th and the last day of the month. Each check is a little larger than a biweekly one.
These figures are before taxes. Use the paycheck calculator to see take-home pay after federal and state taxes, Social Security, Medicare and benefits.
